A UN commission on human rights has condemned Israel for its "systematic refusal" to honor humanitarian conventions in the occupied Palestinian territories, also accusing the Israeli regime of torturing Palestinian detainees and prisoners. That sounds relevant and contingent with the situation today in the occupied territories, but that was actually a report from a Geneva commission held in early 1988. Fast forward to today, and a UN panel has denounced the excessive use of force by Israel against Palestinians, criticizing Israel for using unwarranted lethal force and lengthy administrative detentions. So similar in essence, reports like these bring to light the harrowing fact that the situation for Palestinians has not changed one bit, and Tel Aviv remains as defiant as ever.
