The History and Impact of #UNIT8200 on Israeli High-Tech Entrepreneurship

Unit 8200 is an elite branch of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) that specializes in (SIGINT) i.e. computer security and murkier, more controversial stuff, such as espionage and cyber attacks (Stuxnet & NSO Group’s Pegasus Malware). The Unit resembles the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in the U.S.
Two companies to watch out for who were founded by Unit 8200 Alumni are: Team8 and OurCrowd. These two companies are Venture Capitalists that crowd source Israeli High-Tech companies and many of them are start-ups that are founded by Unit 8200 alumni. Team8 was founded by former Unit 8200 commander Nadav Zafrir & just recently, OurCrowd launched a spin-off called OurNetwork.
